Renaudin, Bright Star Photography

This scene from Bright Star is a realistic scene during which available lighting was used. There is a constant movement and a prevelance of nature. A medium shot, in conjunction with and eye level camera angle point of view was used to depict the dialogue between the characters. Shooting the scene using these techniques allows the viewer to observe the characters facial expressions and assists in the realistic impression of the viewer being a part of the conversation. This scene has an intamcy to it because of the techniques used. The medium shot and the eye level angle convey the closeness of Fanny and John. This shot also caputures the background so the audience does not loose the sense of realism but keeps the characters in focus to concentrate in their conversation. This gives weight to the realism of the film, especially this scene. Their reactions and feelings towards one another are clearly displayed to the audience and allows for both sides of the conversation to been interpreted. Deservingly so, the film won the award for the Best Technical Achievment in Cinimatography presented by tehe British Independent Film Awards.
